Christophe Mulhauser was elected mayor of the small village of Busy in eastern France on 18/05/2020 and will remain mayor until 2026. Below is his speech, given in public at 7.45pm, in support of the ‘UFOs in Africa’ exhibition, which took place in the municipal hall on 16 and 17 November.
»I’m the mayor of Busy and I know a few people here.
So when Olivier* came to see me to propose this event, I don’t know what kind of face I gave him but I think I paused for a moment, I’ve known Olivier for a long time and then I thought ‘Why not’. It’s a very original subject. And then to Busy, frankly, that’s unheard of, and then just after Paris after all, you can’t refuse.
So, yes, I’m one of the sceptics, as you know, Olivier. But that was before I met Jann** this morning. I’ve been in touch by email and phone too, and I’ve actually met someone who’s not a blind enthusiast who absorbs everything, but someone who’s very cultured, who approaches the subject from a very different angle to what we’re used to. And the cultural aspect, the artistic aspect and then the scientific aspect, there are a lot of openings that allow us to look at the subject in a way that we didn’t before.
We have very little information, very little information, like most of us we’ve stuck to facts and news from the 80s when we were inundated with sensationalist press and we didn’t always get the real story.
It’s true that Olivier often talks to me about the testimonies of serious people, the military, well not all of them are serious, but there are still people who have given testimonies that deserve our attention.
This morning, Jann gave me an almost private tour, which was supposed to last ten minutes, but I think I stayed for almost twenty minutes or half an hour, because when you dig a little deeper, when you look at the magnificent paintings by Marie-Angélique Thuillier, well it doesn’t leave you indifferent.
So if these testimonies have left evidence like this, things that make a mark, then perhaps it’s worth looking into it and at least asking the questions. We don’t necessarily have the answers to our questions, but it has the merit of arousing interest, and then of revealing, of showing the public that there can be serious things in this field.
Thank you very much and I hope you enjoy your conference*** later on. »
Our warmest thanks to the Mayor for his words.
