His music video for “Espoir,” released on October 14, has just surpassed 100,000 views. Is this surprising? The entire personality of slam poet Myster Ezin (and his smooth voice) and his universe are revealed in it. It deals with downfall, despair, and resilience, using allegories that give the video a powerful fantastical touch, thanks to the main character, who is adorned with devil horns.

It is a gem of African Fantasy, between light and shadow, in which the artist proclaims his desire not to sink into despair. From Africultures to Le Monde (Africa selection), many media outlets have mentioned this video, which accompanies a song released in 2022 on the artist’s first album, aptly titled EspoirS.
Myster Ezin is a Franco-Beninese artist, slam poet, singer, and composer, originally from Benin and based in France. Currently pursuing a doctorate in musicology at Aix-Marseille University, he specializes in popular and contemporary music. In this capacity, he spoke about Benin, witchcraft, and voodoo on UAP Afrique on October 27. These fascinating discussions challenge certain preconceptions.
The album EspoirS is available on all streaming platforms and on sale at Fnac.
